Good day everyone.
Since a post wasn’t dropping today, I figured I would take this chance to talk about a few matters.
My ebook is available for pre-order. You can get here for $0.99. A paperback version is being reviewed by Amazon as we speak (for $5.99), so I don’t know when it will be ready. The book is basically all 24 posts of the Iliad that I wrote, plus the final essay (which will drop on 10/09). They have been further edited for errors and formatting. In some cases, I took out and added paragraphs, changed the epigraph, and changed the name of the chapter. Lastly, it has footnotes rather than in text citations.
Getting the ebook ready was an interesting experience and I hope it will take less time to prepare when I get one ready for the Odyssey. I found the formatting to be the most difficult, and that is probably the weakest part of the book. I may have to make further edits to the formatting of the paperback version to make it look a little less tacky. I learned a lot about how to handle future ebooks. Speaking of the Odyssey. My posts on the Odyssey will start on 10/16/2022. I already have first drafts of Books 1 & 2 done and am currently working on the first draft of Book 3. I personally like the Odyssey more than the Iliad. It’s much more exciting and the lessons you can learn from it hit much closer to home.
As you may have noticed, I have thumbnails on my posts now. I plan on doing that for all my posts on the works I write about from now on. The names of the artwork will be at the bottom of each post so you can look it up yourself.
Depending on how many posts I can get written between now and 10/16, I will be putting out one post on the Odyssey a week until Book 4 minimum. I may have to extend that further. I want time to read through the Odyssey and write as many posts as possible so I don’t get overwhelmed by deadlines. Also, having learned that writing a final essay and preparing an ebook takes a lot of time, I want to have a bit of a buffer to work on both of those and get them out in a timely fashion.
Lastly, my Substack is setup for paid subscriptions. $5/month and $30/year is the minimum Substack allows me to charge. There’s also a $50/year option. If you want to give less than that, I have a SubscribeStar account. I am still thinking about what I can offer to paid subscribers only, as well as other things I can write about, but writing the final essay and ebook for the Iliad took a lot more work than I anticipated. It’s still not done yet, in fact, as I will be trying to record an audio version of the final essay so it can be posted on 10/09 as well.
Anyway, that’s all.
May your days be filled with grace.
